My "Before"

Weight: 280 pounds
Bicep: 17 inches
Chest: 54 inches
Waist: 51 inches
Hip: 45 inches
Thigh: 28 inches
Calf: 17 inches

I started today! I have read every word in the pamphlet from Personal Trainer Food, organized all the food in my freezer, and started eating the delicious food...VERY happily after a 24 hour fast the day before. The fast was to kick start my body into fat burn mode and all day long I have been battling the sugar withdrawals. At one point chocolate cake just randomly popped into my head!! But I persevered and honestly felt like I accomplished something already.

Getting The Shot Right

The reason I chose the name "My Manual Focus" is to represent my love of photography and hone in on my determination and focus to begin a healthier life. My camera can automatically focus the lens and bring clarity to the subject. However, to get that extra unique shot, sometimes just pushing a button on the camera won't do. Sometimes you have to focus manually in order to achieve your goal. Most people never actually have to use the manual focus and are able to get by letting the camera do all the work for them. For me to begin this journey and make the drastic changes I need to I am going to have to do it myself. My focus will have to be on the end result, which is not necessarily a number or size, but a way of life. When I took this picture I knew that in order to capture exactly what I had in mind I would have to do the work myself and not rely on anything else.

I know that this will not be an easy task, just as manually focusing my camera isn't, but in the end it will be worth it. Sometimes when you use manual focus you may take 100 pictures and only get one that is right. I think that is a perfect example of how I have been going about it all this time. I really believe of all the things I have tried before that this new plan will be the one perfect shot I've been looking for. Today I received my first month of Personal Trainer Food and begin this journey with them.

Here is the little buddy inspecting the delivery:

I know that they have set me up for success, and now it is up to me and MY "manual focus" to finally get the shot right.

The First Step

This is it. I am beginning my journey to a healthier life.
~
This has been a long time coming and this first step is definitely the hardest, but I have such an important reason to take that step: my son. He just turned 7 months old and is the most amazing little thing that could have ever happened to me and my wife. In an instant our world changed forever and suddenly the next 50 years of my life became a lot more important. I need to see him go to kindergarten, ride a bike, play sports, learn to drive, attend college, and give us grandchildren. I am anxiously awaiting for the day that as dad and son we can go fishing, hike, explore...all things I will need to be around to do. If I don't make a change then I could miss out on all of these things with him. And that thought is all it took for me to decide to take that step. To begin my journey of a thousand miles.
~
I know it won't be easy. In fact, I'm already dreading parts of it.
But for this little boy, it will all be worth it...
